S&P Global Platts European Petrochemicals Webinar Series – Olefins – January 2019

Date: Tuesday, January 15, 2019
Time: 2 pm – 3 pm GMT

After several years of exceptional margins, European petrochemicals industry is heading into the unknown. Rising imports of ethylene derivatives from the US are going to undermine domestic demand for the key petrochemical building block, ethylene, and will weigh in on margins. But will heavy turnaround schedule planned for next year help to balance out the loss of demand? How will co-products propylene and butadiene fare with a reduction in production rates? Will it lead to higher volatility for butadiene or will the output loss be offset by the influx of imports of butadiene derivatives, such as SBR and ABS? Could propylene become the main money-maker for cracker operators or will producers of derivatives be looking to other regions for exports?

Will Europe keep its market share and margins amid heavy turnarounds and imports influx?
Join members of our S&P Global Platts Petrochemicals team for an invaluable webinar focused on the outlook for olefins in 2019, focusing on these key topics:

  • Imports of US PE and PVC will head to Europe. Will cracker turnarounds help balance out ethylene length?
  • Propylene production will drop amid outages. How will derivatives cope with the anticipated tightness?
  • ABS and SBR imports will weigh in on butadiene demand. Will butadiene exports to Asia be the key to margins?

  • Q&A

S&P Global Platts European Petrochemicals Webinar Series – Aromatics – January 2019

Date: Tuesday, January 29, 2019
Time: 2 pm – 3 pm GMT

European aromatics have experienced a rocky 2018, buffeted by changes in demand and supply fundamentals, trade tensions, and anti-dumping duties. How has the industry learned from its past experiences, to tackle the challenges ahead? In paraxylene, new global capacities are incoming and are here to stay for the long run.

How are the relationships between producers and end users developing with this in mind, and with the possibility of trade tensions persisting? In styrene, anti-dumping duties have had the side effect of driving a trading hub in Europe. Can industry participants count on that in 2019? Capacity increases in benzene and MTBE are expected in the coming years. How are companies aligning their strategies to the new environment?

Join members of our S&P Global Platts Petrochemicals team for an invaluable webinar focused on the outlook for aromatics in 2019, focusing on these key topics:

  • European PX and downstream markets adapts to new global capacities and policy changes
  • Europe gains a hub status in styrene after Chinese antidumping duties – but can it keep the title in 2019?
  • The benzene oversupply situation in Europe – is it here to stay?
  • European MTBE faces headwinds with new capacities and decreased demand. Where can it find its next home?
