In 2022, news of the Namibian discoveries captivated the E&P world and fueled an explosion of interest in the Orange Sub-basin matched only by interest seen in the Guyana Suriname Basin post 2015. Interest in Namibia has been so intense that it has been compared to Guyana and described as "Guyana 2.0". Perhaps the first question one might ask is, is this a fair comparison?
Join us as we look at the geology highlighting the differences and similarities, dig into the exploration history and time to production, look at how licensing is changing in Guyana and suggest what may happen in Namibia. Finally, we will look at the rapid expansion of Guyana's upstream industry and use that as a plausible analogy for Namibia and what are some of the best practices Namibia could draw on from Guyana.
In partnership with African Energy Chamber, we are very pleased to have Maggy Shino, Petroleum Commissioner of the Namibian Ministry of Mines and Energy join us to reinforce the message that Namibia is open for business.
